Canada’s Plastics Challenge - Recycle BC

Canada’s Plastics Challenge

Plastics pollution is a global issue and world leaders are working towards solutions. Signing the Ocean Plastics Charter at the G7 Summit in June is one step Canada, as a nation, has taken. Another initiative the federal government has recently launched is providing Canadian inventors and entrepreneurs an opportunity to contribute as well.

Innovative Solutions Canada, a program dedicated to supporting the growth of Canada’s innovators and entrepreneurs, currently has several Plastics Challenges open for submission in the following categories:

  • Food packaging
  • Separation of mixed plastics
  • Recycling of glass fibre-reinforced plastic
  • Sustainable fishing and aquaculture gear
  • Remove and manage ghost fishing gear and marine debris
  • Construction waste

If you, or someone you know, are interested in participating, visit the Innovative Solutions Canada webpage for more details on each challenge. Challenges closing dates can be found on the Innovation Solution Canada webpage.
