The Multi-Material BC B.C. Advisory Committee includes local stakeholders involved in MMBC’s packaging and printed paper stewardship program. The committee serve as a forum through which B.C. stakeholders with an interest in the success and performance of MMBC’s program are kept informed about program developments and through which they can be consulted for advice and feedback.
The Advisory Committee is consulted on core elements of MMBC’s program to identify issues and suggest how they might be addressed, fosters collaborative problem-solving and increased communication, and provides feedback and recommendations to MMBC regarding the operation of the program.
The committee will meet up to four times annually. The committee Chair provides leadership, facilitates discussion and assists the committee in meeting its mandate.

BIOGRAPHIES
Advisory Committee Chair – Brock Macdonald – CEO, Recycling Council of B.C.
Recycling Council of B.C. (RCBC) CEO Brock Macdonald joined the organization as Communications Director in 2004 and was appointed to his current role in 2006. From 2000 to 2004 he was communications manager for Product Care Association, one of B.C.’s first regulated stewardship agencies. Brock leads RCBC’s efforts to promote and support waste prevention initiatives in a strategic approach to develop a sustainable circular economy in B.C.
Linda Barnes – Councillor, City of Richmond
Linda Barnes, who has been a Steveston resident since 1970 and raised two children in the community, was elected to Richmond City Council in 1999. She is a retired Richmond School Board employee having worked as a Classroom Assistant for students with special needs; a Work Experience Assistant with employers and schools, and a Youth Support Worker with secondary level “youth at risk”.
Linda is Chair of the City’s Public Works and Transportation Committee and a member of the Finance, General Purposes; Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services and Planning Committees.
Linda is the Council representative to the following advisory committees, organizations and community associations: BC Aviation Council; the Council/School Board Liaison Committee; Richmond Sister City Advisory Committee (alternate); the South Arm Community Association; the Steveston Harbour Authority (alternate); Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society; the Steveston Historical Society; and the Richmond Public Library Board. She also sits on the Advisory Committee of the Board of Encorp Pacific (Canada). As well, she is Metro Vancouver’s representative to the Flood Control and River Management Committee of the Lower Mainland Local Government Association (LMLGA).
Linda is a former president of Richmond School Board Employees Union (CUPE 716).
Will Burrows – Executive Director, Coast Waste Management Association
Will Burrows serves as Executive Director for the Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA), a membership association serving the solid waste industry in coastal British Columbia.
His waste and recycling career began 19 years ago as Project Manager for the largest metal recycler on Vancouver Island. In 2007, Will took on the role of Executive Director for CWMA. During his time, membership and annual conference participation more than doubled. Will was appointed to the Encorp Pacific (Canada) Advisory Committee in 2008.
Will lives in Cobble Hill, on Vancouver Island with his wife and three children and is a Past Area Governor for Toastmasters International organization on Vancouver Island.
Mike Dick, President, Vice President Western Canada for Agropur, Division Natrel
Mike has over 20 years of experience in the food processing industry, both as an entrepreneur and working within a large national company. He has overseen all aspects of a growing food processing business and currently holds the position of Vice President Western Canada for Agropur, Division Natrel (better known in B.C. for their brand Island Farms). Agropur is a dairy co-operative with operations across Canada and the United States and employees over 5,700 employees.
Mike holds a Diploma of International Trade at B.C. Institute of Technology (B.C.I.T), a Bachelor of Business Administration with Thompson Rivers University and a Masters of Business Administration at Royal Roads University.
Mike is the President of the B.C. Dairy Council, a board member for the FIOSA-MIOSA Safety Alliance of B.C. and is a volunteer member and Vice Chair for Ducks Unlimited Canada, Richmond-Delta Committee.
Andrew Doi, Environmental Planner, Metro Vancouver
Andrew Doi is an Environmental Planner at Metro Vancouver, who specializes in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs and policy. Andrew holds a Master degree in Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University and is a Registered Professional Planner. Andrew began working at the Greater Vancouver Regional District in 2001, and he has been focusing on EPR programs since 2008. He participates on a number of working groups and committees, including the Electronic Products Recycling Association, Tire Stewardship BC, and others.
Rob C. Gay, Regional District of East Kootenay Board Chair
Rob C. Gay is serving his third term as an Electoral Area Director with the Regional District of East Kootenay, representing the rural areas/citizens around the City of Cranbrook. He was elected the regional district Chair in 2011, and was Vice Chair for four years before that. Rob has always lived in the Kootenay Boundary region, and his work experience includes professional forestry with the BC Forest Service in various locations, Kootenay – Boundary Regional Manager with the BC Crown Corporation Forest Renewal BC, and General Manager with Community Futures East Kootenay a not-for-profit that assisted small business. Rob is also the Chair of the Association of BC Forest Professionals finance committee, a member of the BC Municipal Finance Authority, and has served on the executive of the Southern Interior Beetle Action Society and the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Government. Rob is married with two grown children and one grandson and lives near Cranbrook, BC.
Gay Hahn, CEO, Avalon Dairy Ltd.
Gay Hahn is the CEO of Avalon Dairy, where she has worked for the past 32 years. Gay was instrumental in bringing Organic fluid milk to the B.C. market in 1999 and continues to be an advocate for organics and actively participate on committees to benefit all organic commodities. Gay was the Western winner of the 2010 Farm Credit Canada Rosemary Davis award for her outstanding contribution as an industry leader, educator and volunteer in Agriculture. She has also won the Ralph Barichello Memorial Award, to recognize an outstanding contribution to agriculture in Canada, and to volunteer community work.
Bill Hardy, General Manager, Northwest Landscape Supply
Bill Hardy has been involved in the landscape horticulture industry for over 30 years. Bill has served as a director on Provincial, National and International horticultural trade associations for many of those years. Currently Bill is the PR & Environment Chair with the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association and the Science & Education Chair for the International Association of Horticultural Producers. Bill is also a director with HortEducationBC, the Industry Trade Organization responsible for horticulture apprenticeship programs in BC.
Bill is General Manager with Northwest Landscape Supply with locations in Squamish and Burnaby BC, as well as Co-Owner of Grow & Gather Garden Centre in Maple Ridge BC.
