Moving forward, Interchange Recycling (the Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) which manages automotive materials like used oil) will be expanding their product list to cover all automotive containers (packaging). As a result, automotive containers will no longer be managed by, and therefore removed from, the Recycle BC program. BC producers will no longer have reporting or fee obligations starting with their 2026 supply data/sales reported in 2027 Annual Supply Report to Recycle BC. Automotive containers will continue to be reported in the upcoming 2026 Annual Supply Report (2025 supply data /sales invoiced in 2027). This change aligns with when producers will begin reporting on the new harmonized reporting categories in 2027, and more information about this change will be included in new reporting resources.
