Background

Under the BC Recycling Regulation, producers of packaging and printed paper (PPP) must assume responsibility for recovery of PPP as of May 2014. Multi-Material British Columbia (MMBC) submitted a PPP Stewardship Plan, which describes how producers will meet this requirement, to the Ministry of Environment (MOE) on November 19, 2012, as required by the Recycling Regulation.

While the MOE is considering the PPP Stewardship Plan, MMBC is preparing to implement the plan.  During these preparations, MMBC wants to continue to dialogue with those who may wish to provide services to MMBC starting in May 2014.

One of the activities described in the PPP Stewardship Plan is the procurement of post-collection services through a Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP).  MMBC is releasing this REOI to solicit information that will be of assistance in preparing the RFP which MMBC anticipates will be issued in July 2013.
