Recycle BC is excited to announce the opening of a new recycling depot in Squamish, BC, effective June 1, 2024. Following recent changes at the Queens Way Recycle Depot operated by GFL, which will no longer offer public drop-off of residential packaging and paper materials as of May 31, 2024, the new depot will ensure that residents have continued access to recycling services.
Recycle BC is committed to providing Squamish residents with convenient recycling options and supporting their efforts to divert waste from the landfill. The new depot will accept glass, flexible plastics, and foam, which are not accepted curbside, and mixed containers and paper. Residents will still have the option to visit London Drugs in the Garibaldi Village Shopping Centre to drop off flexible plastics and foam packaging (limit one small bag per visit).
In addition to the new depot, residents can continue to use the curbside and multi-family collection programs for most residential packaging and paper products, such as newspaper, magazines, cardboard, steel and aluminum cans, rigid plastic containers, soup cartons, and paper beverage cups and lids. For more recycling info, download the Recycle BC app or visit RecycleBC.ca.
The new depot will offer Squamish residents a convenient and accessible location for recycling their materials. Recycle BC thanks Squamish residents for their commitment to recycling and for their patience during this transition.
The new depot, operated by Squamish DOX is scheduled to open on June 1, 2024, at 40446 Government Road at the site of the old Greyhound bus depot in Squamish, BC. The depot will be open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The facility, which is soon to be home to Squamish Rebuild, is designed to host a wide range of organizations, events, and activities with the common goal of promoting and enabling more sustainable behaviour in daily life. The Queens Way Recycle Depot will remain open through May 31, 2024.
