As we kick off the New Year, we are pleased to provide an update on our progress on national integration for Blue Box in Canada.
As a follow up to our update and producer webinars hosted in 2023, to support the ongoing transition to extended producer responsibility in Canada and manage impacts, Circular Materials, Recycle BC, Multi-Material Stewardship Western and Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba have been working together to develop an optimal business model for delivering a harmonized, national approach to EPR in Canada.
This has included the development of a nationally integrated approach and roadmap that identifies activities the respective organizations will collaborate on to mitigate cost increases and achieve the productivity gains that can come from national integration and local/regional management.
We are pleased to share an update on our progress and activities the respective organizations will collaborate on to achieve common goals and increased efficiencies together. To ensure we continue to meet our producers’ needs, we hosted producer engagement sessions in January, 2024. The purpose of these sessions was to share our progress and capture your feedback and questions to ensure continued alignment with producers’ goals and objectives prior to implementation.
To support a comprehensive engagement process, interested parties could provide feedback until February 29, 2024.
Virtual Webinar and Comments
Two sessions were hosted on January 24 and January 29, 2024. A pre-read document outlining details of the approach to national integration was distributed to registered attendees before the sessions. Written comments were accepted until February 29, 2024.
We look forward to continuing to collaborate with you and leveraging the strengths, capabilities, and investments we have built over the years across producer responsibility organizations to deliver value through national integration.
Thank you for your participation, support and feedback.
