Residents can connect with Recycle BC on social media to stay informed and up to date on any news and updates related to residential packaging and paper recycling service in communities within Recycle BC’s program. 

Community Expectations and Guidelines 

  What to expect from Recycle BC: 

  • Accurate, timely, and informative content about residential packaging and paper recycling in British Columbia, including updates on accepted materials, program changes, alerts and notices regarding service disruptions and special collection initiatives, and educational content to help you understand what belongs in your bin—and what doesn’t. 
  • Responsive communication: Our social media accounts are monitored Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. 
  • Respectful, clear responses to your questions and comments whenever possible. 
  • We may edit our social media posts for clarity, accuracy, and length. 

  

Recycle BC’s community expectations: 

To help foster a respectful, inclusive, and helpful environment for everyone using our channels, Recycle BC asks that users: 

  • Engage with us in a respectful and constructive manner. 
  • Ask questions, share your feedback, and participate in positive, solution-focused dialogue.

While Recycle BC welcomes a wide range of opinions, we will remove or hide comments that include: 

  • Profane, obscene, or threatening language or content. 
  • Hate speech or discriminatory remarks based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or other personal characteristics. 
  • Defamatory, aggressive, or abusive comments. 
  • Misinformation or disinformation about recycling guidelines, Recycle BC programs, or staff. 
  • Unsolicited promotions, spam, or repetitive content. 
  • Commercial content unrelated to Recycle BC’s mandate. 
  • Content that may compromise public safety or security. 
  • Links to third-party content or personal information. 
  • Material that infringes copyright or intellectual property rights. 
  • Off-topic or disruptive posts that distract from productive community dialogue. 

Individuals or organizations that repeatedly violate these guidelines may be blocked or banned without notice.

By interacting with Recycle BC’s social media accounts, users acknowledge that: 

  • Your comments and content may be visible to the public and saved as part of Recycle BC’s records. 
  • Your posts may be used or re-shared by Recycle BC for educational or promotional purposes, including edited or adapted formats. 
  • You have permission to use any images, names, or likenesses included in your posts.
