Multi-Material British Columbia (MMBC) received approval from the BC Ministry of Environment for itsPackaging and Printed Paper (PPP) Stewardship Plan (April 8, 2013) on April 15, 2013. Implementation of the plan is now underway.
A key component of MMBC’s PPP Stewardship Plan is the offer of financial incentives to:
- local governments for curbside collection of packaging and printed paper (PPP), and to
- local governments, private companies and not-for-profit organizations for collection of PPP from multi-family buildings and the operation of drop-off depots to receive PPP from residents.
If a local government declines the incentive to provide curbside collection of packaging and printed paper, MMBC will contract with a private company selected through a competitive procurement process.
