Multi-Material BC (MMBC) continues to allocate additional resources to support collection, as more sub-zero temperatures are expected this week.
In addition to Smithrite vehicles and crews working according to the standard schedule:
- Recycling trucks will be deployed the day after regular collection to access challenging areas. These rear-loading trucks are heavier, giving them increased traction in slippery conditions.
- Field teams using 4×4 pick-up trucks will also be deployed in the days after regular collection in areas not accessible by larger vehicles.
- Approximately 15 trucks and crews will be deployed on Saturday, January 14 if un-serviced areas remain.
Streets and alleys that are inaccessible due to icy conditions remain throughout all service areas. MMBC continues to work with both Emterra Environmental and Waste Control Services, which are providing additional trucks and crews. MMBC is also working with the City of Vancouver to coordinate salting and sanding.
The continued patience of residents is appreciated as MMBC works to ensure recycling is collected safely. Residents are asked to leave recycling out if it is not collected on the regularly-scheduled day.
