Important Update: New Depot in Squamish Delays

We have an important update for Squamish residents regarding the new depot collection site for residential packaging and paper. Squamish DOX was looking forward to the opening of the new depot site, but unfortunately operational delays have persisted, leaving the official opening date unclear. The team understands the urgency of the situation and is committed to resolving these issues and starting operations as soon as possible.

The last day of operation for the existing GFL depot on Queen’s Way is June 14, 2024.

While we navigate these delays, residents can continue to use the curbside and multi-family collection programs for most residential packaging and paper products, such as newspaper, magazines, cardboard, steel and aluminum cans, rigid plastic containers, soup cartons, and paper beverage cups and lids.

For materials not accepted curbside (glass, flexible plastics and foam), here are your options:

  • London Drugs in Garibaldi Village Shopping Centre: Accepts flexible plastics and foam packaging (limit one small bag per visit)
  • Whistler: Function Junction Depot (1001 Lynham Road) and Nesters Depot (8006 Nesters Road)
  • North Vancouver: North Shore Bottle Depot (235 Donaghy Ave), North Vancouver Bottle and Return-It Depot (310 Brooksbank Ave), and North Shore Recycling and Waste Centre (30 Riverside Drive West)
  • Squamish landfill: Accepts glass

We want to express our gratitude to all Squamish residents for your commitment to recycling and for your patience during this time. The team is dedicated to opening the new site as soon as possible and will keep you updated on our progress.
