Update – Using the Registered Steward List to Identify Voluntary Stewards for Reporting Purposes
As we approach the material reporting window for MMBC’s packaging and printed paper program, we wanted to let you know that as of August 16 no new voluntary stewards have or will be added to the MMBC registered steward list, so that the list can be used by BC retailers to prepare their material reports for MMBC.
MMBC understands that BC retailers, when preparing their reports, will need to know what brands to exclude when reporting. A voluntary steward is a brand owner that is not resident in BC, but has elected to be responsible for reporting all its brands put into the BC market. This means BC retailers do not need to report those brands to MMBC.
Retailers can access the Registered Steward List here. The list will continue to be updated weekly with BC resident companies, but new voluntary stewards will not be added so that retailers can prepare their material reports against a stable, unchanging list.
Late Joining Voluntary Stewards
Late joining voluntary stewards that come in subsequent to August 16 will be welcomed and tracked in the system. They will be required to report and will be invoiced just like everyone else. Depending upon when the voluntary steward reports, we will do one of two things when calculating fees:
- If the report is received by September 20, 2013: We will exclude the material quantities that are reported to ensure quantities are not duplicated AND will consider the resultant fees calculated to be used to offset costs to the affected material categories when calculating 2014 fees
- If the report is received after the September 20, 2013, deadline: We will consider the resultant fees calculated to be used to offset costs to the affected material categories when we calculate the 2015 fees A full list of MMBC voluntary stewards will be published in preparation for stewards’ 2014 data reports (which will be due in May 2014) to assist retailers to determine which of their suppliers are MMBC members
